Volunteer Opportunities Week 12/27/24 - 01/02/24

REMINDERS:

1. You are limited to 2 check in or out shifts per month.

2. You are not allowed to sign up for check in / out back to back.

3. Everyone must sign up to volunteer via the sign up genius unless pre-authorized by the Volunteer Coordinator, Anna (541-600-7451 or gleaners.volunteer@philomathcommunityservices.org) OR, Patty on Saturday and Alicia on Monday.

4. Volunteers need to be on time or 5 minutes early. If you can't show up on time, please find another time to volunteer. Other volunteers have a schedule and we count on everyone being on time to keep the day moving.

Big Change coming July 1st - A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE

Dear Families,

At our meeting Tuesday (Yesterday) we had a discussion about a LBFS rule that was brought up at a Coordinator meeting earlier in the day. A complaint was made and we have to come into compliance with the rules. If we don't make the change, it could hurt our food pickups and relationship with LBFS.

So, the change! Members who volunteer will not be allowed to shop until their last name slot comes up in the shopping list.

For example, if you volunteer from 9-11 on a Saturday, but your last name is last in the rotation, you will have to come back and shop at your designated time based upon when your last name sign up slot.

We know this may change folks thoughts on the program. Sadly we think some folks may find that this program is no longer a fit for their family. If this is you, we are sorry but we have to look out for the greater good of the program. We will be taking the next few weeks to adjust and plan for any changes that come from this change.

These changes will take effect on July 1st.

Volunteer at the food Drive (Wednesday June 5th)

Gleaner Families---Linn Benton Food Share has asked for our help on Wednesday! We are allowing this to count as regular hours. Let's all pull together and make Philomath Gleaners Shine!

We have an event in Corvallis next Wednesday June 5th that we are recruiting volunteers for. KVAL TV is doing a  food drive for us at Fred Meyer’s in Corvallis

We will have a table set up outside and the TV station will have a large tent with tv anchors hosting live shots and interviews. If you have questions, please call 541-730-6390 and my email is sjames@communityservices.us

We have five open volunteer slots for the Scout Lodge Yard Sale for the 'Sale volunteers' shifts as well as the 'Clean-up' shifts tomorrow. Please sign-up tomorrow if you love a good garage sale. It is at the Scout Lodge in Philomath. There will be loads of goodies there.

Annual Corvallis Half Marathon Volunteer Opportunity for April 2024

LBFS is looking for volunteers to help us direct runners at the Annual Corvallis Half Marathon.

When: Saturday April 6^th 8:15-11:30.

LBFS needs 30 volunteers to help cheer on and direct runners along a portion of Walnut BLVD. LBFS hopes to receive Marathon Tee Shirts for our volunteers again this year. Linn Benton Food Share is one of the beneficiaries of the proceeds from the run.

This is an opportunity to volunteer for LBFS and Gleaners. The time you volunteer for this will count towards your volunteer hours for April. This is run by LBFS so you would need to sign up with Susan James at LBFS. Her contact info is below.

You will be required to write your own volunteer hours down or do it online for this!

Transportation NOT included. If you intend to drive to this, you will need to fill out a drivers authorization form to release liability while driving your personal vehicle.
