Thank you from Patty

 Good evening

I want to give a shout out of thanks, to all if the gleaners and to the members of the garden who participated in the cleanup of the wood lot and the garden on a very cold day. I would like to give special shout out to Chelle who worked tirelessly to organize and participate in this cleanup along with her husband. Today I witnessed the true meaning of the word "community".
Thank you

Tidbits for members

Tidbits for members

I wanted to remind folks of a few items that have come up lately.

1. Cleanup on Monday - we do not re-stock any items. We have a crew on Wednesday that does our re-stocking. If you need something to do on Monday cleanup, please see Josie or Jules to get direction.

2. Everyone needs to be reminded that we need to shop and not chat. Chatting can happen after you have put your food in your cars and returned the carts to the front of the building. We try to get folks to shop and out the door in 8 minutes (really 16) as we start new members shopping every 8 minutes. This also helps with the number of carts we have out front. We need you to shop so the next person has a cart.

3. Shoppers at end of the day need to shop quickly. Our last shopper starts at 4:15 (Monday) and 4:00 (Saturday) and should be through by 4:15 / 4:25 at the latest typically. (Remember to arrive about 10 min early. We can not start cleanup until the last shopper is through each section.

If everyone can follow some simple guidelines, then the process goes much smoother.

Outside/Garden Clean-up (Saturday 3/25/2023)

 Outside/Garden Clean-up (Saturday 3/25/2023)

We are getting to the end of the month and here is a great opportunity to get in some hours.

Below is the Signup Genuis for an upcoming cleanup event here at PCS. We will be doing a major cleanup of all items behind the building, cleaning up the parking lot so we can get it painted,  as well as in the garden area.

Organic Strawberry recall- Costco (Information sharing)

This product was distributed to Costco stores in the western US, including Oregon and Washington.

Company Announcement

‘The company has issued a correction to the previous announcement’.

March 17, 2023, this press release is updated to include the states that Aldi sold Simply Nature frozen organic strawberries.

Scenic Fruit Company of Gresham, Oregon is recalling frozen organic strawberries sold to Costco, Aldi, KeHE, Vital Choice Seafood, PCC Community Markets and frozen organic tropical blend sold to Trader Joe’s due to an outbreak of Hepatitis A illnesses.

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that results from exposure to the Hepatitis A virus, including from food. It can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months. In rare cases, particularly consumers who have a pre-existing severe illness or are immune compromised, Hepatitis A infection can progress to liver failure.

Illness occurs within 15 to 50 days of exposure and includes fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stool. Hepatitis A vaccination can prevent illness if given within two weeks of exposure to a contaminated food. Persons who may have consumed affected product should consult with their health care professional or local health department to determine if a vaccination is appropriate, and consumers with symptoms of Hepatitis A should contact their health care professionals or the local health department immediately.
