Dear PCG Family,
In the past couple of weeks, several of our core volunteers have experienced some issues surrounding their home life that have made it extremely difficult for them to help volunteer. I am writing to every one of you as a member of our amazing organization to ask for help. We have a large Target load coming in tomorrow that everyone will benefit from for the next couple of weeks. We need your help. We are getting a forklift to unload the product, so we need help dividing the product among pallets. We also need help marking barcodes, and stocking our cages and shelves. We also need help on Friday to process donations, stock shelves, and unload the Linn-Benton Food Share order.
I realize many of you have already completed your volunteer hours for this month, and I appreciate everyone for doing this, but please consider putting in a couple of more hours so that it will help lighten the load for those who have already signed up to help.
Thanks
Patty
Sign up for helping with Target on Thursday.

We still have open slots for the PCS fundraiser on Saturday. This WILL get you regular gleaner hours. Sign up and make sure to write your hours down at the site.
Members,
As we are closing in on July, I want to remind everyone of the policy on volunteer hours. We had to send out MANY letters for June hours not being put in. This program is a hand up and each and every member is required to put in the time to make this program effectively work.
Please be aware of the policy as it is posted to the BLOG. We do not guarantee any hours the very last week of the month, and it is not our responsibility to squeeze you in. We have had plenty of opportunity for everyone to participate!
It is also each members responsibility to write your hours down on the sheet.
2.3.2 Non-Compliance
If five hours monthly requirements have not been met, the following is the process:
Month 1: an email notice will be sent to check on members and to encourage 5 hours of participation for month 2.
Month 2: Member household will receive an email or letter stating they need to meet the minimum of 5 hours plus whatever hours they missed from the previous month in order to remain in Good Standing.
Month 3: Member will be put on a 1-month suspension. If the household does not return to the program and volunteer to complete the 5 hours plus whatever hours are missing from the previous months, during this suspension period, the Member Household will be terminated for a period of one year.

You are responsible for keeping track of when you work and your total hours. Individuals need to write down your own hours
on the volunteer sheet at the site. Please do not expect the volunteers to check your hours for you mid month. We are working
hard to keep this program running and feeding over 450 individuals.
Benton County Fair FUNDRAISER - Volunteers needed!
Members!
We have been given the opportunity to do a fundraiser by sitting and manning the gate at the Benton County Fair! Philomath Gleaners day is August 4th. We have multiple slots open all day long. This is a super easy fundraiser that we are hoping to be successful in and be invited back in 2023! We could use the funds to help support our food needs with our program!
The first shift is super important. The first trainers will train the next and so on. Training starts at 7:30 at the Orange Gate (West entrance). There will be a 10x10 tent at each gate for volunteers.

Dear Members,
Our program has about doubled since January. Last night our Advisory Board met this past week and have opted to CAP our membership at 480 individuals. We will ONLY make special allowances for true homebound adoptee families who will go through and approval process for delivery.
Our membership does fluctuate based upon peoples commitment to the program. In the case that we hit the 480 individuals, we will have a waiting list to join our program.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: NO FLIP FLOPS allowed during volunteering or any open toed shoes.
Due to increased membership size: Members need to text or call Patty on Saturdays and Alicia on Mondays 2 hours prior if you need miss a shop time. Volunteer for Cycle Oregon at Peace Lutheran Church on July 23 and get your volunteer hours in for the Month. PCS is running this fundraiser with Cycle Oregon. PCS pays for our building, our utilities, and keeps all 5 programs running. As gleaners, we can help out.
Please help out PCS and get your volunteer hours in for the month. Remember, you need 5 hours this month!
The volunteer job is to help set up, serve food, and clean up at the rest stop for cyclers on the Cycle Oregon event. The job does requrire some heavy lifting (I would assume this is setup and take down crew).
Food Preservation GRANT!
Philomath Community Gleaners has been awarded a food preservation grant for 2022. This grant is to help provide the needed supplies to our families so that bulk produce can be preserved for families. If you are a family that preserves food, then please take the time to sign up for your needs. This doesn't guarantee anything, but we are working on getting a list together of each families needs so we can make sure everyone is given equal opportunity to take part in these products.
Please sign up for each item that you will use for the coming year.
We will also be requesting that families take photo's of the food being preserved so we can submit this to our donors in a final report.
Please enter your FIRST and LAST name in each slot you are interested in. We will close up the interest form on Sunday (July 24) evening at 5pm.
Reminder: This month the required volunteer hours went up to 5 hours. For a little history, pre-covid, each family was required 8 hours per month. At any point, the Advisory Board can up the hours to 8 hours.
Please note that at only 2 of your 5 hours per month can be spend doing alternate volunteering:
- Garden
- Caring for another gleaners children while they volunteer
- Brining in cans for bottle deposit (1 bag = 1/2 hour of time)
We do not know if we have the Thursday truck this week. If we do, we will post a separate sign up for that day.
