Crazy Days (Yard Sale) this weekend!

Donating items: We are taking drop off of goods on Thursday and Friday 9-11. Anything larger than a banana box will need to be approved before dropping it off.

Please make sure your items are clean and ready for selling. Bags will need to be labeled so we can return broken or dirty items back to you.

Any items not picked up by Monday shopping will be put back into the drawing for the next drawing. We do not save items unless we forget your items or we miss it on our end.

Please help welcome Anna

Hi Everyone! 

Please help welcome Anna to the team of volunteers who will be keeping you connected. Anna is taking over the volunteer coordinating and scheduling person. 

Anna posted her first post on Thursday for shopping sign ups. The email if you need to contact Anna is Gleaners.volunteer@philomathcommunityservices.org

Anna also has Whatsapp and can be contacted through that as well. From here on out, she will be your contact for changes that need done on the volunteer schedule if it is 24 hours prior to your scheduled time. For instance if you need to cancel a sign up at least 1 day before the scheduled volunteer time -- please email/text Anna. If you are cancelling last minutes (0-24 hours until your time), please message PATTY for all days except Monday. On Monday, you can message Linda or Alicia. 

We have had a few glitches - some of her emails went to folks SPAM folder, so if you didn't get the sign up to shop email on Thursday, please check your spam folder and approve so you will get future emails.

Fridge Issues-Check your food please

We had fridge issues this afternoon and it was not keeping the temperature where it should have been at end of day. If you shopped the fridge next to the deep freeze, the food could be compromised.


It will be up to you if you think it is safe to consume what you got from that fridge. 


We will be swapping out the fridge on Wednesday so the new one is ready for Saturday.

Tuesday help needed - WEEKLY Volunteer position

We need 1 person to volunteer every Tuesday. This volunteer slot will open up immediately. Training will be at 3:30pm on Tuesday the 23rd. After initial training, you might be able to come earlier in the day if our Executive Director is on site to open the door. If not, you would need to wait for the Food Bank to arrive to get into the site. 






This job takes all the clean totes from what was washed on Monday and stacks them and puts them in the outside "can" (big Conex box to the side of the building). This is a guaranteed 1 hour volunteer slot per week but must be done on Tuesday to give space for the food bank to use the tables too. 

Please text Alicia to inquire. If 2 people are interested, we could do alternating weeks as it is also good to have back up folks on hand. 

Free Couch - Drawing ends Friday at 9pm

 

Couch available ASAP here in Philomath. Must be picked up by winner. Owner of couch will not be able to help move. Please sign up if you are interested. AGAIN - You must be able to pick up on your own with your own vehicle.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Monday ONLY - April 22nd

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: 

National Volunteer Week is coming up, and Mark McGuire with PCS would like to gather some Gleaner volunteers for a little mini-interview series for PCS/Gleaner promotion.

We set the time for 10:30am on Monday the 22nd. Members will get 1 hour of volunteer time for coming down to interview with Mark. You MUST sign up on the form below. 

Come prepared to talk about what you like about PCS, the Gleaners, and Philomath. It might be a nice way to show our online community how we are a group of real people.

I have spread out the time in 15 minute increments but be prepared to stay an hour in case someone gets long winded about our program! 





Note: I can't get anyone in early to shop if you come for the interview. Regular shop times and by last name will remain the same. Please plan accordingly.

Added on Policies: Volunteering 26.3 and Members: Children

Under Volunteering: 

Policy 26.3 
You must do the task that you signed up to do unless instructed by the person in charge. If you signed up for a desk job, your job is to remain at the desk for the entire time of your volunteering. If you need to use the restroom, please ask an adult to watch the desk for a few minutes.

1.5.9- Children at the site

A) Children under 5 years old must be within their parent our guardian's reach at all times. If a child presents as a safety hazard, they will not be able to accompany their parent to a volunteer shift.

Volunteer Coordinator / Shopping Schedule - New Position created

Hello Members, 


Since Covid, we set up all communications, sign ups for shopping etc online and it has worked. I know our members don't want to go back to waiting in the lobby for hours and neither do I. I have decided it is time for me to give up a piece of what I do as the Secretary and we created a Volunteer Coordinator / Shopping Scheduler. I can't keep doing all the duties I am doing in gleaners and my personal life/job, etc and maintain my sanity. 


We would propose that the individual would possibly get a separate email with a PCS email address. Would discuss this in next steps when we have a helper.

Interested volunteers should inquire with Patty. We may meet as an advisory board to discuss possible interested volunteers. We also may possibly put a vote out if multiple people interested.

I would estimate this job would take 2-4 hours on the average a week. Likely more in the beginning and then it all depends upon what is going on, if there are additions, changes, etc to what is going on.  


Below are a list of the duties / needs of the job. 


Volunteer Coordinator / Shopping Scheduler

  • Must be tech savvy person willing to learn new things 
  • Be willing to use personal cell phone for gleaner purposes 
  • Have own computer to work on from home 
  • Have flexibility to do sign ups at various times of the day 
  • Must be willing to sign a confidentiality page 
  • Once lists are set up, be able to post to the blog and email out to the group list/post to whatsapp, etc. 
  • Help to manage/understand spreadsheets and signup. 
  • Post / audit drawings: be able to setup and use google forms for drawings, export to a google file / sort / Organize / create PDF (Currently have help for this but one needs to know how to do it) 
  • Audit the sign up and create a PDF on Saturday and Monday mornings for the program.  
  • Daily audit of who has signed up for the volunteer slots 
  • Work closely with the Coordinator / Co-Coordinator in monitoring the volunteering. 
  • Keep up and adhere to the Policy and Procedures 
  • Attend Advisory and Membership meetings 
  • Message individuals who need to be deleted/changed 
  • Email / What’s app / etc out last minute needs for help 
  • Set up all the sign up genius (would be the back up for the time being as we have a committed volunteer who does the weekly volunteer setup and shopping days sign up). 
  • Setup all other volunteer's opportunities on the sign up genius as needed and approved by the coordinator (Target, last minute requests, etc)
