The advisory team is working hard to make this program run as smoothly as possible. We do get complaints more than one would think or we hear chatter. Please remember that this is a 100% volunteer program. Without the few folks willing to put the time in to make this work, we wouldn't have a program.
Many of you don't know how it was prior to COVID19 or even during COVID19. Prior to COVID19, we had to wait up to 60 minutes to shop. We would wait in the lobby and shopping when our number came up. We mainly had food, we rarely got Target and if we did, it was only distributed at meetings, so if you didn't come to the meeting, you did not get special items. During COVID19, members waited up to 3 hours in their vehicles to get food that was prepared and distributed by a team of volunteers. These teams HAVE NOT STOPPED working. Please, please be kind, be mindful of your words, and only be positive.
We feel that possibly members don't read the policy and therefor this might be where the issues come from. Sadly, the policy comes from a need to be safe, a need to keep order, or something that has happened in our group that we felt needed a policy. Again, this took HOURS of time to write this policy, revise this policy, and make it what it is today. In addition, we are the ONLY group that is this transparent with our members. Currently, we know of at least 2 groups who are still filling boxes for members and not allowing shopping.
It is so important that all members read the policy and procedures and stay up to date on the information we send via the blog, we are willing to give an hour of volunteer time for each household to read them!
